Italian Design Icon: Parentesi Lamp by Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù

A true icon of Italian industrial design, permanent part of the Triennale Design Museum in Milan, the Parentesi lamp is our Design Portrait of today. Designed by Italian designers Achille Castiglioni and Pio Manzù is produced since 1971 by the lighting company Flos.

As simple as innovative in the form, a shaped steel tube, reminiscent of a bracket, slides on a vertical axis from the floor to the ceiling, thanks to the under tension steel cable and the friction that creates the right balance. In 1979 it was awarded with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro in the eleventh edition.
